The taste is markedly sour. It is a crispy apple, with hard, juicy white flesh and a very sharp taste. However, its meat becomes softer with long-term maturation, and served slightly chilled can be very refreshing. It is great for consumption fresh, in pies, and also very good for fruit salads (and sliced retains its color).
